June 21st 1999 Dear Philes and Viewers, You're probably wondering what the fuss is all about... Well, the Israeli company, Telad, that has the rights for broadcasting "The X-Files" in Israel, decided to cut the 6th season in the middle, and all because Telad wishes to broadcast movies during the summer. As a result, we are now forced to wait three months until we will get to see the rest of the season. And this after Telad boasted that Israel was the first to get to watch X-Files' season six after the USA. Now, at Telad they seem to think the viewers have no brains. When various newspapers came to them with the question, why did you make such an annoying decision, i.e., cut the season in the middle? Telad's answer was: We care about our viewers and we did not wish to put "The X-Files" after the movies as it would be too late for them to stay up and watch it. They *care* about us??? Isn't it odd that they don't give a damn about the viewers of other series being broadcast as late as 1:30-2:30 AM? Well, the truth is, what the Telad execs care about, is their pocket. You see, they are worried that if X-Files would be shown late at night, then less people would watch it, thus it would get a lower rating, and as a result the advertisers would not agree to having their commercials during the breaks in X-Files. And as we all know, commercials mean money... So, since we believe Telad's act shows their total disrespect towards us, their loyal viewers, we have decided to act and convince Telad that they have made a mistake and that they should bring X-Files back, a.s.a.p. If you think we are right, please help us in this protest. Here are the many ways in which you can show your support: 1. Write letters to Telad:
In these letters tell them what you think about their disrespect towards you as a viewer. Tell them that right now during the summer holidays you can actually stay up late, and as a loyal fan of X-Files, you would watch X-Files, no matter what time of day it was on. Or suggest an alternative day and time for X-Files to be broadcast during the summer: During the time slot prior to "Homicide: Life on the Street" on Sunday. 2. Call Telad or send them a fax:
5. Leave messages on the various forums:
6. Ban the movie broadcasts on Wednesday evening!
